ANNIVERSARY INSIGNIA
MAKE EVERY MILESTONE IMMORTAL.
From a 25-year group anniversary to a golden wedding,
from the 100th birthday of an association to the maiden voyage of a new boat
we translate your milestone into a badge that keeps the story alive.
Milestones deserve more than a speech and a group photo. An anniversary badge makes something intangible years of dedication, friendship and shared moments concrete and tangible. Something you'll still find generations later on a uniform, a leather jacket, a riding coat or in a memory box.
"The greatest compliment we ever get? 'My grandfather wore this badge too.'"
At Funbadges we've designed hundreds of anniversary insignia over the years. For scouting groups celebrating 25, 50 or 100 years. For motorcycle clubs and their lustrum rides. For businesses marking a milestone. For couples honouring their silver wedding with their own emblem. And for sailing boats making their hundredth crossing. Every anniversary is different and every badge we make tells its own story.
WHY ANNIVERSARY BADGES
Form for bond, memory and pride
An anniversary insigne serves three things at once and that’s what makes it such a powerful symbol.
🤝
Bond & belonging
Everyone wearing the badge belongs. A new wave of young scouts, a veteran rider who's been riding for thirty years, a colleague who just started the same badge says: you belong here.
📖
Memory & story
A date on a badge becomes, years later, a starting point for a story. "Remember when we…" is how traditions are born. Your anniversary insigne becomes the hook for stories that span generations.
⭐
Collector's value
In scouting, motorcycle clubs and associations, lustrum badges are passionately collected. A limited-edition anniversary insigne is treasured, traded and passed down. Some badges become genuinely valuable over the years.
WHICH YEARS COUNT?
The classic milestones
Not every year gets its own insigne but these do. Some are traditional, some are new, but these are the years we get called about most.
1ste lustrum
5 years
The first serious benchmark and often a surprise.
An organisation or association that has existed for 5 years has weathered the first storm. For scouting groups, this moment often coincides with a first generation of children "moving up" to the next section. For young motorcycle clubs, it's the first real moment of remembrance.
Designs on 5-year insignia are usually playful and fresher than later anniversaries there's still plenty of founding energy to celebrate.
2de lustrum
10 years
Enough history to tell, young enough to celebrate joyfully.
Ten years often feels like the first "real" milestone. For businesses, it lines up with the first generation of loyal customers and employees. For scouting groups, a recognisable culture has emerged by then own traditions, recurring themes, set camp locations.
Many groups choose at 10 years to design something that bridges back to the founding logo. A tribute to the roots, with a wink at what's happened since.
Zilveren jubileum
25 years
The big twenty-five for many, the most important lustrum.
For scouting groups, motorcycle clubs and associations, 25 years is often the first truly major celebration. An entire generation has grown up with the group. Former members return, photos are pulled out, archives are opened. A 25-year badge often becomes more elaborate in design because there's more history to weave in.
We recommend thinking bigger at 25 years: a main badge for members, a special design for leadership/board, and possibly a separate version for former members. A lustrum set instead of a single badge.
2de lustrum
50 years
Half a century history with a capital H.
An organisation that has existed for 50 years has truly built something. Here we often see designs where the original logo returns sometimes even the logo from half a century ago, in a modern execution. Gold accents are popular, sometimes literally with gold-coloured thread or metal pins.
At 50 years we also often see a duo of designs: one festive version for the anniversary year, and one "permanent" insigne that becomes a lasting part of the uniform or club vest.
Zilveren jubileum
75 & 100 years
Now you're talking generations. Sometimes centuries.
An association that has existed for 75 or 100 years is rare and that deserves a design to match. For centenary celebrations we often see designs that look back across multiple founding moments, with artwork that captures the entire timeline: founding date, milestone moments, a visual story.
For some scouting groups, shooting societies or historic associations reaching this age, it's become a tradition to collect an additional sticker, badge or insigne with every passing 25 years. A living timeline on the uniform.
What kind of anniversary fits in a badge?
Most people think of “anniversary” as the birthday of an organisation. But there are many more milestones that deserve their own insigne and we’ve made them all at some point.
⛺
Group age
Classic: 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100 years of existence. For scouting groups, associations, shooting guilds, choirs, sports clubs and more.
⛵
Boat or ship
A 25-year-old sailing boat, the maiden voyage, a hundredth crossing, or the 50-year existence of a water scouting group. Boat anniversaries often get deeply personal insignia.
🏍️
Lustrum ride or tour
For motorcycle clubs, cycling clubs and hiking associations: the annual lustrum ride gets its own badge. Often with a route map or year woven in.
🏢
Business anniversary
10-year company anniversary, first 100 employees, or a milestone revenue. Pins and badges as internal milestone celebrations or corporate gifts.
💍
Wedding anniversary
Silver (25), golden (50) or diamond (60) wedding. A personal badge for the anniversary celebration as a memento for guests or as a family tradition.
🎓
Reunion or generational milestone
30 years since graduation, 25 years sailing together, 40 years with the same football mates. Reunion badges turn a moment of reuniting into something tangible.
👥
Personal years of service
"25 years with the fire department", "10 years as a leader", "20 years volunteering". A special insigne as recognition for individual dedication within an organisation.
🏆
Event edition
The 25th edition of a tournament, the 50th time an event is organised, the 10-year anniversary of a festival. Edition anniversaries for recurring events.
Yes, wedding anniversaries too
We get this regularly: a couple celebrating 25 or 50 years of marriage who want to make their party extra personal. A badge or pin with the anniversary date, a wink to the wedding, or a redesign of something from the original wedding album. Family and guests get them as a keepsake and some families even turn it into a tradition that continues with each new wedding generation.

FOR COLLECTORS
Anniversary badges as collector's items
In certain cultures scouting, motorcycle clubs, shooting guilds lustrum badges are genuinely collected. Not as an investment, but as a timeline of someone's life within that group. You can recognise veterans by the older insignia on their jacket.
That's why we work intentionally with limited runs. An anniversary insigne is usually a one-off issue: order 100 pieces for a 25-year anniversary and those are the 100 that will ever exist. No repeat production, no "let's do a few extra next year". That's what makes them genuinely collectible.
TIPS FROM HUNDERDS OF DESIGNS
What makes a great anniversary badge?
After hundreds of anniversary projects, we see patterns. These are the six most important things to keep in mind.
01
Feature the year prominently
The anniversary year is the lead actor. Central and large, not tucked away on the side.
02
Honour the founding logo
Many groups weave their original founding logo (modernised or not) into the anniversary badge. A tribute to the roots.
03
Colour theme by lustrum
Silver at 25 years, gold at 50 years, diamond at 60 years. Material choice or thread colour can subtly carry this.
04
Leave room for story
Sometimes a date, a name, a motto or a symbol is enough. Not everything needs to fit on the badge a great badge leaves room for stories around it.
05
Think about the run
An anniversary badge is by definition a one-off. Order slightly more than strictly needed for later generations, former members or as a swap badge.
06
Order well in advance
Count on 4-6 weeks of production after artwork approval. For anniversaries we recommend starting the request at least 3 months before the celebration.
